34th Annual Film Festival

The IFS Film Festival has hosted premieres for the world’s greatest filmmakers, including Paul Thomas Anderson's Phantom Thread, & Inherent Vice, David Cronenberg's Map To The Stars, Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers, Lars von Trier's The House That Jack Built and Nymphomaniac (directors cut), Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals (starring Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal), James Franco’s The Disaster Artist, and Spike Lee's Blackkklansman (starring Adam Driver).

Celebrity guests at the festival include Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange), Karen Gillan (Dr. Who / Guardians of the Galaxy / Avengers), Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman), Piper Laurie (Twin Peaks / The Hustler), Michael Madsen (The Hateful Eight / Kill Bill), Gena Rowlands (The Notebook / A Woman Under The Influence), John Hillcoat (dir. The Road), Sid Haig (The Devils Rejects / Spider Baby), Jane Lynch (Glee), Steven Culp (Desperate Housewives), Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do), Mena Suvari (American Beauty), Rick Glassman (NBC's Undateable), Blake Clarke (The Waterboy), Melanie Mayron (Thirtysomething), Clu Gulager (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood), Jesse James (The Butterfly Effect), Illeana Douglas (Ghost World, Goodfellas), Dominique Swain (Lolita), Doug Benson (Super High Me), and Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction).


Film Festival Celebrity Guests

New work from Neill Blomkamp, Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, Greta Gerwig, Marisa Tomei, Kate Mulgrew, Minnie Driver, Rebecca Miller, Mark Boone Junior, Walter Koenig, & Gigi Edgley, recently premiered at the L.A. IFS Film Festival, screening alongside IFS's legendary showcases that are curated to highlight the best new filmmakers.

Lana & Lilly Wachowski, Julianne Moore, Brandy, Fred Willard, Jane Seymour, Nile Rodgers, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Amber Tamblyn, Tom Sizemore, David Cross, Lauren Holly, Priscilla Barnes, Doug Jones, and James Earl Jones are just a few notable IFS Film Festival honorees.

The IFS has hosted event screenings for Jim Jarmusch's Paterson, Atom Egoyan's Remember, the Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone musical La La Land (from director Damien Chazelle), A Perfect Day (featuring Benicio Del Toro and Tim Robbins ), as well as the re-release of ROAR starring Melanie Griffith and Tippi Hedren, in addition to hosting premieres from Madchen Amick, Eric Stoltz, and John Lee Hancock.

Independent premieres from producers Jane Fonda, Robert Zemeckis, Jon Peters, Richard LaGravenese, William Shatner, Tim & Eric and Stan Lee have all screened at the IFS Film Festival. Curated retrospectives honoring Tom Noonan, Eric Bogosian, Kenneth Anger were hosted by IFS, alongside many other fantastic film events.

Movies starring Ralph Fiennes, Donald Sutherland, Danny Glover, Lacey Chabert, Olivia d’Abo, John Ennis, Brendan Small, and Lou Diamond Philips, as well as films featuring original scores by Warren Ellis and Lee Ranaldo, and documentaries featuring Carl Reiner, Rob Reiner, Burt Reynolds, Danny Trejo, Talia Shire, Eva Haller, Ralph Macchio, Sylvester Stallone, and Martin Scorsese all screened at the IFS Film Festival.

Cinema icons Gary Oldman, Guillermo Del Toro, Jodie Foster, Taylor Hackford, Werner Herzog, Adrian Lyne, John Badham, Nicholas Cage, Warren Beatty, James L. Brooks all have been interviewed for IFS Documentaries.


IFS / L.A. Film Fest at the Grove and L.A. Live

Our film festival began at the world-famous Grove entertainment-retail complex & tourist destination, located in the heart of Hollywood, next to both CBS Studios and LACMA. Festival events and film screenings are held in cinemas located at The Grove, L.A. Live, the Directors Guild, and in other historic cinemas across Los Angeles, Beverly Hills & Santa Monica. Our current festival home is LA LIVE, with screenings held at Regal Cinemas / LA LIVE.

The IFS Film Society proudly hosts film premieres that represent the best new independent cinema from across the globe, with screenings at the L.A. IFS Film Fest as well as IFS Monthly Event Showcases. All selected films are chosen by democratic vote from the 150 Members of the IFS Film Society, at premiere-style screening events held for Film Society Members.
